CBA can save you money!
Any firm or corporation directly engaged in the retail sale of
books in Canada, and whose
annual book sales represents more than 10% of gross annual revenue, or whose
book inventory represents more than 10% of their total retail selling space, and whose
inventory is comprised of books supplied by more than one publisher or supplier may be
admitted as an Active member. Each Active member shall have one vote. Where multiple
retail outlets are, in the opinion of the directors, directly or indirectly controlled by
the same person, firm or corporation, the group of retail outlets so controlled shall be
entitled to only one Active membership and only one vote.
Active membership fee: (varies depending on gross annual sales)
Fees are set on a sliding scale according to the current fee schedule,
and will be based on gross annual sales. Membership runs from January 1st to December
31st. $18 of the membership fee is allocated to Canadianbookseller magazine.
Government Relations
Your voice in government, Canadian Booksellers Association represents
booksellers' interests strongly and effectively to government policy makers.
Supplier Relations
CBA works closely with booksellers and suppliers to promote
profitability of the industry and efficient operational practices.
Communication
CanadianBookseller: included, as a benefit of membership, is a
subscription to your own trade magazine full of news, retailing information and analysis
of your industry. Published four times a year CanadianBookseller is the
Association's official magazine and members' principal networking tool.
CBA News: weekly eNewsletter, distributed to all CBA
members.
CBA Website: www.cbabook.org offers
up-to-the-minute information on industry events and CBA activities. Our Coast to Coast
Bestsellers List is posted weekly. In addition, you have e-mail access to CBA's Board of
Directors and staff.
Updates: Time-sensitive developments on advocacy activities and industry,
government, retail and marketing issues are faxed frequently to members.

BookExpo Canada - National Convention and Tradeshow
National Convention: Held each June, offers members the opportunity to attend
seminars, workshops, author breakfasts and lunches, CBA Bookselling School and social
functions.

as suppliers of services and sidelines. Booksellers use the tradeshow to find new sources
of supply, place orders and see what's new.
